Symptoms

PKC continually updates its Couplers to reflect the latest information in the medical literature and to improve Coupler functionality. These changes can affect the presence of findings from one software version to another. After you have installed a new PKC software release, old Coupler sessions will still load using the Load Session function, but the reloaded session may lack some findings that were set present using the older version. If these findings are important to you, the Saved Coupler Session report and diagnostic error messaging feature may be of help.

Solution

Saved Coupler Session Report
You can use the Saved Coupler Session report to view and print information as it was saved during a previous Coupler session. The Saved Coupler Session report includes the following information from the original session:

  • Date and time
  • Coupler name and revision date
  • Patient name
  • Findings (the finding number and text of each present and uncertain finding)
  • Posted or flagged diagnostic or management options
  • Session comment

The Saved Coupler Session Report is a custom report that must be loaded into the Coupler application before it can be used. After you have loaded the report, you can load a saved Coupler session. After you load the saved Coupler session, you must use the Saved Coupler Session report immediately, while you are still on the Finding Summary screen. If you make any changes to the old session, you are required to save them before running the report thus altering the original session data. Procedures for loading, printing, and viewing custom reports (including the Saved Coupler Session Report) are included in "Using Custom Reports" in the online Coupler Help.

Diagnostic Error Messaging Feature
When the diagnostic error messaging feature is enabled, Couplers display detailed diagnostic messages associated with session database operations. Among the information provided is the Session Load Report dialog box (see "Session Load Report Dialog Box" in the online Coupler Help). When you load a saved session, this dialog box displays a list of the findings and primary options that cannot reload in the current Coupler version. Refer to this report to note which findings cannot automatically reload from a previous version session.
This feature is enabled for new installations. You may enable and disable diagnostic error messaging from the Coupler application, as described in "Setting Error Message, Finding Text, and Character Validation Options" in the online Coupler Help.
