Improving Care for Patients With Diabetes
In a study conducted at the country's largest VA hospital, researchers tracked two groups of diabetic patients over seven months. Close to forty patients received customary treatment, while the same number of patients received treatment guided by the Diabetes Management Coupler. The results prove that using Couplers improves the quality of healthcare for diabetic patients. According to Dr. Willard Harris, a director of the study, the Coupler group showed tremendous improvement in medical care, while the other group showed no change in outcomes. During the course of the study, healthcare providers using Couplers diagnosed eleven patients with early signs of kidney disease. Because of this early detection, these eleven patients might be able to avoid kidney transplants or lifelong dialysis, saving them years of difficult treatments and saving the healthcare system tens of thousands of dollars. The implications of this study are staggering – millions of lives could be improved. A detailed technical description of this study is available. |
